We had a great time on our field trip this past Wednesday. Students enjoyed the performance of The Jungle Book, and even got to meet all of the characters afterward! Here are a few pictures of students waiting for the play to begin!

Students have been working very hard at building their stamina during independent reading. We set a goal of 15 minutes of quiet reading in one spot, and we reached our goal last week! We celebrated with a stuffed animal party. Students had fun reading to their stuffed animals and having them on their desks for the day. Our next goal will be 20 minutes!
This last week we learned some new strategies to help us read and write words with long vowels. We watched the following two videos as well as searched our books to write down the long vowel words we found. These are great strategies that you can use during your nightly reading. Warning! These songs will get stuck in your head!! ;) We had a great time at the jogathon last Wednesday. The weather was perfect, and it was a great chance to get outside and get some exercise. Pledges are due October 27th! I tried to get pictures of everyone, but some of them were too fast for me to snap a picture ;)
We had such a great time on our zoo field trip this year! The weather was perfect, and tons of animals were out and about. Thank you to all of the wonderful parent volunteers who made it all possible. For those of you that weren't able to come with us, here are some pictures for you to enjoy!
Our current science unit is all about light and shadows. Today we went on a shadow hunt with flashlights to see where we could find shadows in our classroom. We learned that when an object is in front of a light, a shadow is created. We also experimented with moving the light source closer and then farther away, to see how the shadow changed. We saw shadows get bigger, and smaller depending on how close the light source was to the object.
Students performed a song they have been working on in music class at our Assembly on Wednesday. Here's the video if you were unable to make it to the performance! Students really enjoyed our graphing unit. We got to have some fun and collect data to graph. Students had to survey their classmates on their favorite drink, and then graph their findings and answer some questions about their graph.
We reached our goal of 30 minutes of quiet reading and earned a "bring a stuffed animal" day! The kids loved getting comfortable and reading with, or to, their stuffed animal!
